Tomato & Pear Chutney


  • 1kg ripe tomatoes
  • 2kgs green pears
  • 250g green capsicums
  • 250g onions
  • 2 cups seeded raisins
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 bottle Wild’s Ezy-Sauce


Chop tomatoes. Peel and core pears, de-seed peppers and peel onions. In a large saucepan, mix the tomatoes, peppers, onions, pears, raisins, mustard, ground ginger, salt, brown sugar, water and Wild’s Ezy-Sauce. Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally for about 1 1/2 hours or until chutney is a thick, jam-like consistency. Using a small jug or ladle, fill into sterilised jars and cover loosely. Allow to cool before sealing.

Makes approx. 2 litres.
